“The problem that I see is that people think that they are going to find their purpose by sitting at home and reflecting… and that just doesn’t work.

What the research has found about finding purpose is that it is often its catalyzed by an experience that you have gone through.

And frequently it’s an experience that you did not want to have. Many people find purpose in their [current or past] challenges.”

Stephanie Harrison is the Founder and CEO of The New Happy – a platform that is focused on lasting happiness and how we can actually focus on changing the world for the better.

Stephanie is so focused on delivering the best content and does so every week, on Sundays. You can check out her newsletter here. You can expect writings and research where she will help you to redefine happiness so that you can flourish.

How did Stephanie get started in this work?

Stephanie actually went to the University of Pennsylvania where she studied positive psychology. She then went on to work with Thrive Globl, LinkedIn, and Deloitte.

Earlier this year (2020), she decided to work on her company The New Happy full-time. Listen to the episode to learn why.

You’ll learn:

  • How to not get caught up in society’s definition of happiness

  • A new definition of happiness (that may actually work better for you)

  • Why “just follow your passion!” is terrible advice

  • Ways to show up for the people you love when they are in pain

  • More ways to ease on rigid plans and lead with intention (if you are currently obsessed with your 5-year plan)
